Screen Printing Emulsion - Kopimask

Screen Printing Emulsion - Kopimask
Emulsion for printing textiles and rigid materials by screen printing. Allows the design to be etched onto the screen and printed using solvent or water-based inks.
- Diazo photopolymer sensitizer in an additional bottle
- Available in Zoico Dual TC emulsion and Zoicocoat WR, which can be hardened with Fixaplast

DESCRIPTION
- Apply 1 or 2 thin layers on both sides of the mesh to ensure complete coverage
- High image resolution and excellent resistance to solvent-based inks such as plastisols
- Leaves the mesh smooth and ready to use
- The Zoicocoat WR emulsion is hardenable or catalysable, with the Fixaplast hardener increasing resistance to water-based inks and prolonging the quality of the exposure
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
- Apply in a dark and enclosed space. A red or yellow bulb can be used to see the process
- It is not advisable to expose these emulsions with LED lamps
- For water-based inks, it is recommended to use the hardenable Zoicocoat WR emulsion (Ref. 012366)
- Store at a temperature between 5 °C and 30 °C without exposure to ultraviolet light
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Wash and remove grease or any foreign contaminants with a degreaser. Any dust particles could leave pores in the design
- Mix the emulsion with the diazo before applying it to the mesh. Fill the diazo bottle with water and shake until dissolved. Add it to the emulsion
- Store the emulsion in a cool, dark place and let it rest for at least 20 min until air bubbles are removed
- Slowly coat the screen with a squeegee
- Let it dry horizontally in a dark environment at a temperature of 30 - 40 ºC, with humidity of 30 - 50%. The screen must be completely dry before exposure
- Repeat the coating and drying process as needed to achieve the desired thickness
- Expose the screen to UV rays with a wavelength of 350 - 420 nm. Conduct tests to establish the appropriate exposure time, the maximum that achieves optimal resolution
- Moisten the screen on both sides using water between 20 °C and 26 °C. After 1 -2 min, rinse with greater pressure on both sides of the screen until fully developed
- Perform a post-exposure 2-4 times the original exposure to improve print resistance
- If using the Zoicocoat WR emulsion, the screen must be hardened. Apply the hardener with a sponge on both sides of the mesh and let it dry horizontally at 40 °C for 1-2 hours. It can also be done at 22 - 25 °C for 24 hours(*).
(*) Once the screen is hardened, recovery may be difficult.
