CHOOSING THE RIGHT SQUEEGEE
HARDNESS
- For designs that require a lot of ink such as saturated backgrounds, opacities or images with a lot of colour, choose the soft rubber (65 shore). It is also the most suitable for printing on irregular or cylindrical surfaces due to its flexibility
- For jobs that do not require special effects, use medium or semi-hard rubber (75 shore). It is also highly recommended for low-absorbent substrates
- For more stability in projects that do not require special details, go for a medium hardness triple-layer rubber (75/95/75 shore). The 95 shore centre section gives it rigidity and prevents it from bending, while the 75 shore side edges make it easier to slide over the screen
- If you want to print detailed designs, fine lines or small patterns, use a hard rubber (85 shore). Due to its stiffness, it is also the most suitable for viscous inks such as plastisols or UV inks
PROFILE
It conditions the thickness of the ink layer and the definition of the image. A rounded edge lets more ink through than a rectangular one.
- The hard rectangle profile (P0) is suitable for printing on rigid and flat surfaces such as paper, wood, cardboard and more
- For textile printing, choose a round profile (P3) with soft force. It is also highly recommended for absorbent substrates
- If you want to print materials that are not very absorbent, irregular or cylindrical surfaces, go for the sharp or double bevel profile (P5). It is also very useful for printing details or fine lines on textiles.
WIDTH
- It should be slightly wider than the design you are printing
- It should be at least 2 to 3 cm smaller than the inner width of the screen. The squeegee should not touch the edge of the screen as this may cause irregularities in the print
