What are patches for sublimation?

They are textile patches coated with polyester, specifically designed to be customised through sublimation. They come with a heat-adhesive backing with a smooth finish that integrates better visually on some garments or with a merrow edge (overlocked) that gives more of a patch effect, allowing them to be applied directly onto the garment with a heat press or sewn on if preferred.

You can find them in different finishes according to your needs: fabric patches, faux leather iron-on patches, or shield-shaped patches.

What advantages do they have?

  • Avoid fabric limitations: you can apply the patch on cotton, canvas, blends, and other fibres not suitable for sublimation.
  • Easy to apply: can be placed with a heat press in seconds.
  • Professional finish: the merrow edge provides a polished and durable appearance.
  • Suitable for mass production or unique designs.
  • Also compatible with other techniques such as DTF, which further expands their customisation possibilities with any machinery.

How are patches sublimated?

  1. Print the design in mirror image on sublimation paper.
  2. Place the patch on the ironing board, with the white side facing up.
  3. Align the printed design on the patch and secure it with heat tape.
  4. Apply heat: 190°C for 50-60 seconds with medium pressure.
  5. Remove the paper while hot and allow it to cool.

With the product, you will receive a double-sided iron-on sheet. Cut it to the shape of the patch, place it on the back (with the shiny side facing the patch), and iron it at 140°C for 15 seconds.

You can also combine sublimation and DTF on the same patch or in different areas of the garment. This way, you expand the possibilities without significant investments.
