🤔 Why have the prices of sublimation mugs increased? New 79% tariff on food-grade ceramics

Since 6 February 2026, a new anti-dumping tariff of 79% (previously 19%) has come into effect on food-grade ceramics of Chinese origin. This measure directly impacts one of the most used products in personalisation: sublimation mugs.
In this post, we explain why prices have increased, what this change means, and what options you have to continue working with profitable margins.
Why have the prices of sublimation mugs increased?
The European Union has increased the anti-dumping duty on food-use ceramics imported from China from 19% to 79%.
This measure directly affects mugs and other products such as plates, bowls, glasses, cutlery… both sublimable and non-sublimable, which are the foundation of many customisation businesses.
The decision is in response to an official resolution by the European Commission to correct unfair competition practices in the ceramics market.

This increase is neither progressive nor optional: it is directly applied to all imports. As a result, the original cost of our ceramic products —specifically the best-selling white mug— has significantly increased. This necessitates us to update the selling price to ensure the continuity of the product and its quality standard.
We continue to commit to quality and to your business.
We know that the white mug is not just another product: it is the foundation of thousands of customisation projects. And we also understand that every penny counts. At Brildor, we have not passed on 100% of the tariff to the final price.
We have optimised processes, adjusted margins, and strengthened our logistics to minimise the impact on your business as much as possible. The result:
- The coating remains the same.
- The resistance to washing as well
- And the commitment to your profitability, stronger than ever.

What can you do now to protect your margin?
The context has changed, but your profitability doesn't have to.
1. Take advantage of bulk packs and volume discounts.
If you can plan your purchases, the bulk packs will remain available and are the best option to balance margins. Buy more = better price per unit. In high-turnover products like the white mug, forecasting makes the difference.
2. Optimise production in your workshop
Minor operational adjustments such as: adjusting production times, improving order organisation, combining various mug formats in a single run… can perfectly offset the cost variation in the base product.
At Brildor, we guarantee you maximum transparency. This adjustment is solely in response to the new official tariff and not due to internal decisions. Our aim is for you to have all the information clear and up-to-date so you can make informed decisions.
